The Modentrée Weekly Note
Issue 06
Paris

I’m literally trying to summarise an entire week of fashion chaos without writing a 4,000-word rant, but here we are. A legacy house is scrambling for cash, Vogue went deep into the family archives for September, GapStudio quietly ate, and Paris is officially running out of excuses to keep summer alive. So, Let’s get into it.
D&G HAS ENTERED ITS FINANCIAL FLOP ERA
Dolce & Gabbana is raising money through deals outside its usual business after banks agreed to loosen its debt terms. And honestly? The plot writes itself. After years of leaning heavily into controversy, shock-value marketing and a very specific brand of chaos, the house is now having to get creative with the cash. Fashion loves a comeback, but this is one we’re not exactly waiting for.
VOGUE REALLY SAID NEPO BABIES, BUT MAKE IT NOSTALGIC !
Chloé Malle’s first September issue as the new US Vogue lead just dropped, and she brought Kaia Gerber back – this time alongside Homer Gere, Richard Gere’s son. They’re currently starring together in The Shards, but obviously Vogue had to make it deeper than that: their parents, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, shared a Vogue cover back in 1992. The concept is cute, the callback is very Vogue, and the internet is understandably asking whether this is fashion history or just nepotism with better lighting.
GAPSTUDIO JUST SNUCK INTO THE CHAT
GapStudio’s Fall 2026 collection by Zac Posen just dropped, and somehow Gap is having a fashion moment without screaming that it’s having a fashion moment. The collection is polished, quietly expensive-looking and actually interesting – which feels refreshing in a week where everyone is fighting for your attention. Gap might genuinely be playing the smarter game right now.

PARIS IS CLOCKING OUT. WE’RE CLOCKING IN.
Rock en Seine is wrapping, Paris-Plages is almost gone, the outdoor cinema is on its final stretch and the city is already acting like everyone should be wearing a blazer again. Sad.
